Power Mobility Industry Ready for Another Run at CMS Restrictions

Medicare is drastically changing the process of obtaining power mobility equipment. Apparently the Medicare Certificate of Medical Necessity will no longer be required. The physician or practitioner will write a prescription that includes Medicare number, diagnoses, type of equipment, and estimated length of need. A home assessment is also required, and the patient environment will be considered in the determination of appropriate equipment. For example, a patient may have the postural stability and arm strength to operate a scooter, but lack the space in their home to use one. If a power wheelchair will work in the environment, then the person is eligible for a power wheelchair. Read on for more detail.

Well done on a great blog wendy. I was searching for information on power wheelchairs and came across your post Power Mobility Industry Ready for Another Run at CMS Restrictions - not exactly what I was looking for related to power wheelchairs but very interesting all the same!
